Economic Development -

mapping - has your community thought about its future?

MAPPING is a strategic visioning and planning process for rural communities for long-range economic development. Local residents of that community come together to create an action plan, identify  goals and strategies necessary to move forward towards common goals and a community they envision.

For more information on the MAPPING program or how to get your community involved, contact the

Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs or visit their website at http://mappingthefuture.org

Village of tampico

siren and generator

CFPS assisted the Village of Tampico in securing  DCEO funds of $13,837 in addition to $20,000 for a U.S. Rural Development grant for the purchase of a new storm siren and generator. The siren has replaced an antiquated system that does not provide adequate notification to local residents. The generator also provides backup power needed for the new siren. The new system has remote activation connected to the national weather system, and is located in a central location within the Village. This new siren will provide public safety to approximately 790 residents.

The Village of Elizabeth has recently implemented a Business Development District. The income from the district will be allocated for infrastructure improvements in town. Contact CFPS if you think your community can benefit from a BDD. To learn more about Elizabeth's BDD, clickHERE andHERE.
